Using Wii for Fitness
Using the Nintendo® Wii for fitness sounds like a scam to get people to buy video games and other lose-weight-quick gimmicks; only the Wii is useful to those who are either plus-sized or out of shape. I have seen with my own two eyes and experienced my friend, Julia, who happens to be quite large, playing the Wii for about twenty to thirty minutes and deciding not to play anymore because she was having some trouble breathing. Heck! Even my arms became quite tired after playing the homerun challenge on the Wii Sports. So, there is an advantage, though it looks like a scheme to get you to purchase the hardware for weight loss sake. The positive thing about the Nintendo® Wii is that most people who are obese, though studies are proving this false more often now since the video game demographic includes almost everyone and their mom, enjoy playing console video games. And, if you have Wii Exercise you can work out and play games. The good thing is that you receive your score. Video games that contain scores set benchmarks that people want to strive to beat. If you hit six homeruns out of a possible ten, you want to beat that score so you try again, though your arms feel like they are going to fall off. So the motivation that the Wii offers you to beat your scores and exercise are all there, and it has shown that it is no gimmick. Get off your couch, go put $200.00 of your hard earned money towards something beneficial in your life - buy the Wii and the workout games. Save yourself from a heart attack. |
